The York County Solid Waste Authority is offering a grant of up to $111,112 to York County municipalities for compost site infrastructure.  This grant is for future compost site development expenses only, past expenditures are not eligible.  Examples of eligible expenses include grading, paving, fencing and other miscellaneous site work.  Construction of buildings or other structures are not eligible.

The total grant amount is comprised of $100,000 from a PADEP Section 902 Recycling Grant that has been awarded to the Authority, plus an additional $11,112 from the Authority to maximize the amount of grant funds that can be received from PADEP (via PADEP’s matching funds program). 

Any York County municipality may submit a grant request.  To become eligible for this grant, municipalities should submit an expression of interest to the Authority by Friday, May 20, 2005.  The expression of interest should be one paragraph in length and should describe the municipality’s plan to use a significant portion of the $111,112 grant funds.  

Use of the grant funds must adhere to PADEP’s specific expenditure timetable (approximately from summer 2005 through March 2006).   Interested municipalities may contact Gregg Pearson at the Authority at 717-845-1066.
