The York County Solid Waste Authority announces Dover Borough has implemented a weekly curbside recycling program for its residents. The addition of Dover Borough increases the number of York County municipalities currently participating in curbside recycling programs to 55 out of 72.

Residents may recycle the following items: glass (clear and colored); aluminum, steel, bimetal and aerosol cans; newspaper; and plastics with the numbers one or two printed on the bottom of the containers.

Act 101, the State's Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act, was passed in 1988 and requires 14 York County municipalities to implement curbside recycling programs based on their population. The other 41 municipalities offer curbside programs voluntarily for their residents. These 55 municipalities represent more than 85 percent of York County 's population.
