The York County Solid Waste Authority will host “Hauler Appreciation Day” at the York County Resource Recovery Center on Thursday, September 27 from 11:30AM until 1:30PM.  Representatives from the York County Commissioners’ office will be on hand as celebrity servers to provide a complimentary packed lunch to haulers delivering waste to the facility.  

“This is a perfect opportunity to recognize and thank waste haulers for the important role they play in the management of municipal solid waste.  At the same time, we will also recognize Veolia Environmental Systems, our facility operator, for helping us to provide York County with one of the finest integrated waste management systems in the country”, says Bill Ehrman, Authority Executive Director.  Adds Ehrman, “The York County Resource Recovery Center is an outstanding example of the good that can result from public and private entities working together to address the responsible management of waste”.      

This is the 12th year “Hauler Appreciation Day” will be held at the York County Resource Recovery Center .  In 2006, more than 150 people employed by various waste hauling companies were recognized for their outstanding efforts.

ØFrom I-83: Proceed on I-83 to Exit 21-- Arsenal Rd/Rt.30E (old Exit 9).  As you come off the exit ramp, get immediately into the far left turning lane and proceed to stoplight at intersection of Toronita Street and Rt. 30E (you will see the "Round the Clock Diner" and a Bob Evans Restaurant at this intersection).

At the stoplight, turn left onto Toronita Street (Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road ).  Proceed approximately 1½ miles to the Resource Recovery Center located on the left side of the roadway.  Take the first gate entrance into the facility.  The event staging area will be located directly to your right (look for a blue tent with tables set up underneath).  Staff will direct you to an area where you may park your vehicle.
