The
York County Solid Waste Authority’s 15th annual Phone Book
Recycling
Program
netted 69.4 tons of old phone books (8.4 tons more than last year’s
collection). Thanks to this
recycling effort, the books have found a new calling as paper products
such as envelope insulation, paper towels and scrap paper tablets.
This program enabled York
County
residents and businesses to recycle their old phone books at collection
sites across the county. The
Authority's Recycle
Drop-Off
Center served as the primary collection site.
Additional
collection sites included
Queensgate
Shopping Center
, the West Manchester Mall, Saubel’s Market in
Shrewsbury
and the
Meadowbrook
Village
Shopping Center
.
The Authority thanks these participating businesses for the use of
their parking lots as collection sites.
