The York County Solid Waste Authority is conducting a free Christmas tree recycling program for all York County residents.  The program starts December 26, 2007 and continues through January 31, 2008.  This is the 19th year the Authority has conducted a Christmas tree recycling program.

York County residents have two options for recycling Christmas trees:

Option 1: Residents may bring their trees to the Authority’s Yard Waste Transfer Facility seven days a week during daylight hours.  No gate token is needed for Christmas tree recycling.

Option 2: Residents may drop off their trees seven days a week during daylight hours at William H. Kain County Park (Lake Redman boat launch area).

There is no fee to residents at either site.  PLEASE REMOVE: ornaments, tinsel, lights and protective bags from your tree.  Many municipalities now offer curbside Christmas tree collection for their residents.  Call your municipal office to see if your municipality offers a curbside collection program.  Dedicated loads of Christmas trees collected in municipal programs will be accepted at no charge during regular business hours at the Authority’s Yard Waste Transfer Facility.  Municipal loads of Christmas trees will not be accepted at Kain Park.

Trees collected at both sites will be shipped off site to an end user.

Directions to Kain Park: To get to the William H. Kain County Park site from the Susquehanna Trail, turn east onto Church Street in Jacobus.  The boat launch area will be on your left.
