The Education Center features corporate and organization-sponsored interactive learning stations on a wide variety of solid waste topics. The Education Center is open Monday through Friday by appointment. Authority presentation topics may be scheduled along with an Education Center visit and/or a tour of the Resource Recovery Center.
House of Healthy Refuse-Sponsored by York Health System
Journey into the world of medical waste management. Learn ways to dispose of home-generated medical waste safely and how to prevent germs from spreading.
Sanitary Landfilling-Sponsored by Modern Landfill
What happens to garbage in a landfill? What is a landfill used for? Siting and building a sanitary landfill is a planning and research intensive process. See an actual model of a landfill and learn about the role it plays in the management of your waste.
Worm Composting
Learn how worms transform food scraps into vermicompost (worm compost). See these very special worms eat fruits, vegetables and breads and recycle them into a nutrient-rich product that will enhance your garden! Groups can schedule extra time to help make new worm bedding or "harvest" vermicompost.

How to Arrange to See Our Learning Stations
The learning stations are located in the Authority's Education Center which is open to individuals, school and civic groups by appointment. There is no fee to visit the Education Center.
