Yard Waste Small Load Drop Off Facility

How to Manage Yard Waste:

York County residents can deliver yard waste to the Yard Waste Small Load Drop Off Facility provided the material is free of contaminants and meets end user requirements.  Yard waste includes leaves, garden residues, shrubbery, tree trimmings that do no exceed 6 feet in length or 12 inches in diameter and tree stumps that do not exceed 12 inches in diameter.  Grass clippings, tree trimmings that exceed 6 feet in length or 12 inches in diameter and tree stumps that exceed 12 inches in diameter are not accepted.  Yard waste delivered that is contaminated or unacceptable to the end-user will be mixed with regular garbage and processed at the RRC.  Customers bringing dedicated loads of yard waste to the Resource Recovery Center will be directed to this new facility located within the footprint of the Resource Recovery Center.  Customers will no longer be directed out of the facility to the former yard waste site that was located on Flour Mill Road.

Free Christmas Tree Recycling is also held at the Yard Waste Small Load Drop Off Facility annually from December 26, through January 31.  For more information about recycling Christmas trees please click here:  Recycle Christmas Trees

Yard waste is accepted from residents during regular Resource Recovery Center hours which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until noon.

How to Manage Grass Clippings:

Best option: Use a mulching mower and let your grass clippings work for you.  Mulched grass provides moisture and nitrogen to keep your lawn looking great.  If you don’t have a mulching mower, low-cost conversion kits are available that fit most mowers.  Another idea is to place grass clippings on your vegetable garden or around your hedges.  You can also add grass clippings in a backyard compost bin. There are many varieties in stores or you can make a bin of your own.  As a last resort, you can place grass clippings in your regular garbage or bring them to the Resource Recovery Center (minimum $10 waste disposal fee at the Resource Recovery Center).
