Directions to the York County Resource Recovery Center
For Public Waste Disposal
2651 Blackbridge Road

From I-83:
Proceed on I-83 to Exit 21 ( Arsenal Rd /Rt.30E). As you come off the exit ramp, get immediately into the far left turning lane and proceed to the stoplight at the intersection of Toronita Street and Rt. 30E (you will see the "Round the Clock Diner" at this intersection).
At the stoplight, turn left onto Toronita Street (Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road ). Proceed approximately 1½ miles to the Resource Recovery Center located on the left side of the roadway. Take the second gate entrance into the facility. Proceed to the inbound scale. When the signal light is green, pull up onto the scale and check in with the weigh master.
You will be directed to the public disposal area where you will unload your waste and then head back to the outbound scale to be weighed out. Cash or a check is accepted for payment. Hours for public waste delivery are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
From Rt. 30:

Directions to the Authority’s Recycling Drop-off Center

Directions to the York County
Sanitary Landfill

Take I-83 south to Exit 4 (old exit 1--Shrewsbury).
Make a right off the exit (onto Rt. 851W) and proceed approximately 3/10th's of a mile to the first road on your right: (Mount Airy Road).
Make a right onto Mount Airy Road and proceed approximately 1 ½ to 2 miles to the stop sign.
At the stop sign, make a right turn onto Plank Road and proceed approximately 2 to 3 miles to the York County Sanitary Landfill.
The landfill entrance is on the left side of the road. All visitors to the landfill must register in the office with the site foreman.
Note: The landfill ceased operations in December 1997 and was capped and closed in 1998. The Authority retains environmental responsibility for the site and continues to maintain and monitor it.
Questions about the landfill should be directed to the Management Center office.

Directions to the Yard Waste Transfer Facility

NOTE:
Before delivering yard waste to the transfer facility, you must stop at the Resource Recovery Center scale house and obtain a gate token (gate token not needed for annual Christmas tree collection program conducted December 26-January 31, the ongoing electronics recycling events and other special programs as designated by the Authority.)
From I-83:

From Rt. 30:
At the stoplight at the intersection of Toronita Street and Rt. 30 (you will see the "Round the Clock Diner" at this intersection), turn north onto Toronita Street (Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road).
Proceed approximately 2 miles to Flour Mill Road. Turn right onto Flour Mill Road, the Yard Waste Transfer Facility will be on your right.

Proceed approximately 1¾ miles to the Authority's Management Center which is located on the right side of the roadway (note: you will pass the Resource Recovery Center on the left just before you reach the Management Center).
Turn right to enter the Management Center access driveway and bear right to reach the visitor parking lot.
From Rt. 30:
At intersection of Toronita Street and Rt. 30 (you will see the "Round the Clock Diner" at this intersection), turn north onto Toronita Street (Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road).
Proceed approximately 1¾ miles to the Authority's Management Center which is located on the right side of the roadway (note: you will pass the Resource Recovery Center on the left just before you reach the Management Center).
Turn right to enter the Management Center access driveway and bear right to reach the visitor parking lot. Proceed to the front lobby.

Directions to the Education Center

At the stoplight, turn left onto Toronita Street (Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road). Proceed approximately 1½ miles to the Resource Recovery Center located on the left side of the roadway. Take the first gate entrance into the facility and proceed up the driveway and into the parking lot.
Enter the facility via the front lobby entrance. The entrance to the Authority’s Education Center is on your left. Tour groups meet first at the Education Center and then proceed on the tour.

Hopewell Area Recreation Complex

Take I-83 south to Exit 4 (Shrewsbury)
Make a right off the exit (onto Rt. 851W) and proceed approximately 3/10th's of a mile to the first road on your right: (Mount Airy Road).
Make a right onto Mount Airy Road and proceed approximately 1 ½ to 2 miles to the stop sign.
At the stop sign, make a right turn onto Plank Road and proceed approximately 2 to 3 miles to the York County Sanitary Landfill. Continue approximately 1/4 mile past the Landfill gate entrance and make a left into the entrance of the Hopewell Area Recreation Complex. Continue approximately 1/4 mile to a paved parking area on the right side of the road. Information kiosks and access to the bird/wildlife platforms and walking trails are located here. To access the playing fields, picnic pavilion and playgrounds, continue a short distance past the paved parking area and make a left into the gravel parking lot.
