NOTE: This year’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event has been postponed due to Covid-19. Click here to view the details.
Each year on the first Saturday in May, the Authority conducts a FREE Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event. Due to Covid-19, we have postponed this year’s event. The date for our next event will be announced at a later date. There is no fee for York County residents to participate. Businesses and government entities are not eligible to participate. The Authority provides this service as part of our integrated waste management system and through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. After collection, HHW is transported to hazardous waste facilities that safely manage, and whenever possible, recycle the materials collected. Click here for a list of items accepted at the event.
Please be advised that no smoking is permitted at the HHW Collection Event and participants are asked to remain in their vehicles while trained staff unload the materials for collection. In addition, please observe and adhere to marked traffic patterns while entering, navigating and exiting the event site. Signs and traffic cones will mark one-way traffic flow from entrance to exit of the area.
For more information about HHW and ways to manage it, please click here to view our Household Hazardous Waste page.
