Household waste and office waste that is not part of a manufacturing process is considered "municipal solid waste" and is treated as either Processible or Unprocessible waste.

In general, Processible waste is combustible waste.  All York County Processible waste is delivered to the York County Resource Recovery Center where it is combusted and the energy is captured to generate electricity.

In general, Unprocessible waste is non-combustible municipal solid waste and cannot be processed at the York County Resource Recovery Center.  Households and offices produce both Processible and Unprocessible waste.
