The Municipal Waste Advisory Committee (MWAC) consists of individuals from all classes of municipalities, citizens’ organizations, private industry, private solid waste businesses, and the recycling industry.
The committee consists of 16 members representing the interest of each category mandated by Section 503 (a) of Act 101.
The MWAC is responsible for reviewing the Municipal Waste Management Plan and making appropriate recommendations concerning various plans being developed by the Authority which address issues such as leaf and yard waste, biosolids and septage, and recycling.
The MWAC meets as needed. Committee members are appointed for a term of two years, or the unexpired portion of any vacancy. Members may not serve more than three consecutive two-year terms.
