The York County Solid Waste Authority Provides FREE Disposal for Pick Up Pennsylvania Event

  • News

The York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC) will provide free disposal for those taking part in Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Pick Up Pennsylvania event to support the Great American Cleanup. Those who plan to take part must contact the York County Solid Waste Authority to obtain a litter disposal placard prior to bringing the litter they collect to the YCRRC. The Authority offers a Free Litter Disposal Program year-round to encourage community groups to conduct litter clean up programs. The Pick Up Pennsylvania event is a perfect opportunity to lend a hand and help clean up York County.

Residents of York County can participate in Pick Up Pennsylvania by cleaning up litter and trash along roadsides and streams or in parks, forests, or neighborhoods. Help is needed now more than ever. A recent statewide study revealed that there is an estimated 500 million pieces of litter on Pennsylvania roadways alone. When trash is not disposed of correctly, it affects our soil and water and the quality of life for people and animals. For more information on the Pick Up Pennsylvania event, click here.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is the result of two organizations with similar missions joining together to achieve a common vision, a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania. In 2010, PA CleanWays (1990) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (2003) merged to become the new Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful whose mission is empowering Pennsylvanians to keep our communities clean and beautiful. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is the state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the nation’s largest volunteer-based community action and education organization.

The York County Solid Waste Authority facilitates responsible solid waste management through an integrated strategy that emphasizes waste reduction, education, recycling and resource recovery.  The Authority is the owner of the York County Resource Recovery Center in Manchester Township; and owns and operates a Recyclable Materials Drop-off Center, a Residential Electronics Recycling Program, a Yard Waste Transfer Facility, an Ash Recycling and Processing Facility and an Education Center.  Free educational programming for children and adults is offered year-round by the Authority.
