The York County Solid Waste Authority’s Executive Director Receives “Authority Employee of the Year” Award from the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association

David E. Vollero, York County Solid Waste Authority Executive Director, received the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association’s (PMAA), “Authority Employee of the Year” award at PMAA’s annual conference on September 9, 2019.

Vollero was nominated by the York County Solid Waste Authority’s Vice Chairman Charles (Fred) Ritzmann for his success over the past several years in serving the waste management needs of the citizens of York County by maintaining daily operations at the York County Resource Recovery Center while it underwent a major $60M site improvement project.  Notes Ritzmann, “The ability to continue to process waste uninterrupted during a project of this magnitude is a testament to Dave’s proficiency in coordinating multiple projects in conjunction with sustaining day-to-day business efforts”.

Vollero was also recognized for his volunteerism in the community with various non-profit and youth athletic endeavors.  He has been an Authority employee for 31 years and has served as Executive Director for 11 years.  Vollero is an active member of the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, the Solid Waste Association of North America and the Air and Waste Management Association.

The York County Solid Waste Authority facilitates responsible solid waste management through an integrated strategy that emphasizes waste reduction, education, recycling and resource recovery.  The Authority is the owner of the York County Resource Recovery Center and an Ash Recycling and Processing Facility in Manchester Township; and owns and operates a Small Load Drop-off Facility, a Recyclable Materials Drop-off Center, and an Education Center.
