YORK COUNTY SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY CANCELS SATURDAY RESIDENTIAL DELIVERIES TO THE YORK COUNTY RESOURCE RECOVERY CENTER AND LIMITS COMMERCIAL WASTE HAULER ACCOUNT HOLDER SATURDAY DELIVERIES
The York County Solid Waste Authority has cancelled residential deliveries of waste and electronics to the York County Resource Recovery Center on Saturdays effective March 21, 2020 and until further notice. Saturday commercial waste hauler account holder deliveries will be accepted from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. also effective March 21, 2020 and until further notice. This action is necessary to reduce exposure for staff and customers in the wake of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
“The health and safety of employees, waste haulers and the citizens we serve is of utmost importance to us”, says Executive Director Dave Vollero. “Like many public entities, we are committed to remaining open to provide a vital public health service and to do that we recognize the importance of limiting unnecessary contact with the public”.
While Saturday residential deliveries are now cancelled, residents who don’t have commercial trash collection may still deliver waste to the Resource Recovery Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residential electronics recycling is now also conducted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Commercial waste hauler account holders may deliver waste to the Resource Recovery Center Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
The Authority facilitates responsible solid waste management through an integrated strategy that emphasizes waste reduction, education, recycling and resource recovery.
