Large Play Equipment

REUSE:  Large play equipment in good usable condition may be able to be donated or resold.  An internet search such as “donate (playhouse, sliding board, etc.) York PA” will show organizations that accept these items for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets.  Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms.

RECYCLE:  Large metal play equipment can be recycled at metal salvage businesses.  An internet search such as “recycle metal playset York PA” will show businesses that accept these materials for recycling.

TRASH: 

• Bounce houses can be disposed curbside, but only if all vinyl parts are cut into strips no wider than six feet and no heavier than one person can carry.  Large wooden playsets can be disposed curbside, but only if they are dismantled into pieces no more than six inches in diameter and no more than six feet in length.  Your hauler may have additional instructions for large item pickup.  Contact them directly for more information. 
• Bounce houses can be disposed at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC), but only if all vinyl parts are cut into strips no wider than six feet and no heavier than one person can carry.  Large wooden playsets can be disposed at the YCRRC, but only if they are dismantled into pieces no more than six inches in diameter and no more than six feet in length.  Click here for information on the YCRRC rates and hours. 
• Bounce houses and large wooden playsets can also be disposed at Modern Landfill (click here).  Swing set and other large play equipment poles with concrete attached must be disposed at Modern Landfill.
