The Education Center at the YCRRC
The Education Center hosts thousands of visitors annually. It features a 60-person orientation room and interactive learning stations on a variety of solid waste topics.
PLEASE NOTE: The Education Center is not open to the public. Call the YCSWA main office to arrange a visit.
Education Center Goals
- Encourage individual responsible environmental stewardship
- Teach the public how and why to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste
- Provide programming to individuals and groups about responsible management of waste
- Facilitate public acceptance of programs outlined in the Countywide Municipal Waste Management Plan
- Work with educators and solid waste industry professionals to develop and provide timely program topics and materials
Visiting the Education Center
Due to high demand for our facilities and programs, we ask visitors to schedule their visit a minimum of two weeks in advance. The center is open Monday through Friday by appointment, with daytime and evening hours available. Please call 717-845-1066 or click here to schedule a visit.
Visitors can request presentation topics during their visit to the Education Center, as well as tours of the YCRRC. There is no fee to visit the Education Center or take a tour of the YCRRC.
For safety reasons, visitors who wish to take a tour of the YCRRC must be at least six years of age. The facility is fully accessible, but individuals requiring accommodations are asked to notify the Education Center in advance.
