By Law, Some Electronics MUST Be Recycled
Some electronics cannot be disposed of in the trash due to the toxic metals they contain. The Covered Device Recycling Act makes computer recycling and TV recycling mandatory in Pennsylvania, including:
- Computers
- Computer Monitors
- Computer Peripherals (Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, etc.)
- Televisions

Electronics recycling is free for residents at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC). Please bring help with you to unload heavy items, if needed. There is no tipping fee for loads consisting solely of electronics. If delivering other wastes in addition to electronics, the entire load will be subject to the YCRRC tipping fee.

When electronics are delivered to our recycling site, an outside contractor takes the items and disassembles them to harvest valuable and useable parts. Any parts that can’t be recycled or reused are properly managed by the contractor in accordance with state regulations.
