Explosive Materials
CAUTION:
- Firearms, ammunition, and gunpowder are explosive, hazardous to human life, and must never be disposed in the regular trash. To dispose of firearms, gunpowder and ammunition, contact your local police department or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Harrisburg Field Office at 717-231-3400.
- Flares are explosive, hazardous to human life, and must never be disposed in the regular trash. To dispose of flares, contact your local fire department.
- Fireworks are explosive, hazardous to human life, and must never be disposed in the regular trash without following these instructions: Soak fireworks in water in a metal container for several days. After soaking, seal the wet fireworks in a plastic bag to prevent them from drying out, and place in the regular trash. - Dry ice is explosive and should never be disposed in the regular trash or in a toilet. Allow to dissipate/evaporate outside or in a well-ventilated area. Click here for information.
