REUSE: Fitness, recreation and sports equipment in good working condition can be donated or resold. An internet search such as “donate (bicycle, tent, weight set, etc. York PA)” will show organizations that accept these items for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets. Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms.
RECYCLE: Metal fitness, recreation and sports equipment may be recyclable at metal salvage businesses. An internet search such as “recycle (bicycle, weight set, etc. York PA)” will show businesses that accept these items for recycling. Fitness, recreation and sports equipment that is electronic can be recycled at the York County Solid Waste Authority’s free Electronics Recycling Program. Click here for more information.
TRASH:
- Most small fitness, recreation and sports equipment can be disposed in the regular trash.
- Most large fitness, recreation and sports equipment can be disposed at the curb during large item disposal. Your waste hauler may have additional requirements for large item disposal. Contact them directly for more information.
- Most large fitness, recreation and sports equipment can be disposed at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC). Click here for information on the YCRRC rates and hours.
- Bowling balls, slate pool tables, trampolines greater than six feet in diameter, and basketball poles/swing sets with concrete bases must be disposed at Modern Landfill. For more information, click here.
