Furniture

REUSE:  Furniture in good useable condition can be donated or resold.  An internet search such as “donate furniture York PA” will show organizations that accept these items for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets.  LifePath Thrift stores, Re-Source York Stores and York Habitat for Humanity ReStore are examples of local businesses that accept furniture for donation.  Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores, and on internet sale platforms. 

RECYCLE:  Metal furniture can often be recycled at metal salvage businesses.  An internet search such as “recycle metal shelving York PA” will show businesses that accept these items for recycling. 

TRASH:  Furniture can be disposed curbside during large item disposal or at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC), however, there is a limit of ten mattresses and/or box springs per visit.  Quantities of more than ten mattresses and/or box springs must be disposed at Modern Landfill (717-246-2686).  Click here for information on YCRRC rates and hours.
