REUSE:  Hardware that is in good working condition can often be donated or resold.  An internet search such as “donate hardware York PA” will show businesses that accept these materials for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets.  Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms.

RECYCLE:  Metal hardware can be recycled at metal salvage businesses.  An internet search such as “recycle scrap metal York PA” will show businesses that accept these materials for recycling.  Plastic hardware can be recycled at CRDC York County drop-offs.  Click here for more information.

TRASH:  Hardware can also be disposed in the regular trash.  The York County Resource Recovery Center, where York County’s municipal waste is managed, recovers and recycles ferrous and non-ferrous metals from garbage ash.
