Hauler Appreciation Day Recognizes Waste Haulers for their Hard Work

The York County Solid Waste Authority (facility owner) and Covanta York Renewable Energy, LLC (facility operator) are hosting “Hauler Appreciation Day” at the York County Resource Recovery Center on Thursday, October 5, 2023. The event kicks off at 6AM in the hauler lounge with coffee and donuts compliments of Covanta. From 11:00AM until 1:00PM, a packed lunch and giveaway provided by YCSWA will be distributed to haulers.

“This is a perfect opportunity to recognize and thank haulers for the important role they play in the management of municipal solid waste”, says Dave Vollero, YCSWA Executive Director. Adds Vollero, “The York County Resource Recovery Center is an outstanding example of the environmental stewardship that can result from public and private entities working together to address the responsible management of waste”.

This is the 28th year “Hauler Appreciation Day” will be held at the York County Resource Recovery Center. In 2022, more than 200 people employed by various waste hauling companies were recognized at this event for their outstanding efforts.

YCSWA facilitates responsible solid waste management through an integrated strategy that emphasizes waste reduction, education, recycling, and resource recovery. YCSWA is the owner of the York County Resource Recovery Center, a Small Load Drop Off Facility, a Recyclable Materials Drop-off Center, an Ash Recycling & Processing Facility, an Education Center, and the closed York County Sanitary Landfill which hosts the Hopewell Area Recreational Complex.
