Hauler Appreciation Day Recognizes Waste Haulers for their Hard Work

The York County Solid Waste Authority (facility owner) and Covanta York Renewable Energy, LLC (facility operator) are hosting “Hauler Appreciation Day” at the York County Resource Recovery Center on Thursday, October 3, 2019.  The event kicks off at 6AM in the hauler lounge with coffee and donuts compliments of Covanta.  From 11:00AM until 1:00PM, a packed lunch and giveaway provided by the Authority will be distributed to haulers.  York County Vice President Commissioner Doug Hoke is the featured “celebrity server” for the event.

“This is a perfect opportunity to recognize and thank haulers for the important role they play in the management of municipal solid waste”, says Dave Vollero, Authority Executive Director.  Adds Vollero, “The York County Resource Recovery Center is an outstanding example of the environmental stewardship that can result from public and private entities working together to address the responsible management of waste”.

This is the 24th year “Hauler Appreciation Day” will be held at the York County Resource Recovery Center.  In 2018, more than 200 people employed by various waste hauling companies were recognized at this event for their outstanding efforts.

The Authority facilitates responsible solid waste management through an integrated strategy that emphasizes waste reduction, education, recycling and resource recovery.  The Authority is the owner of the York County Resource Recovery Center in Manchester Township.
