RECYCLING:  Most curbside and drop-off recycling programs in York County, including the York County Solid Waste Authority’s Recycling Drop-off Center (click here), accept aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans for recycling.  To verify if these items are recyclable in your municipality, contact them directly.  Many other metal items can be recycled at scrap metal recycling businesses.  An internet search such as “recycle metal (weights, wire, etc.)” will show businesses that accept these items for recycling. 

TRASH:  Metal items can be disposed in the regular trash.  The York County Resource Recovery Center, where York County’s municipal waste is managed, recovers and recycles ferrous and non-ferrous metals from garbage ash.
