Plastic

REUSE:  Many plastic products in good usable condition can be donated or resold.  An internet search such as “donate plastic cups, toys, etc. York PA” will show organizations that accept these items for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets.  Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms.

RECYCLE: 

  • Plastic bottles and jugs numbered 1, 2 or 5 that are rinsed with lids removed are recyclable in most curbside recycling programs in York County.  Plastic bags, caps, cups, cutlery, plates, straws, film, foam and toys are not recyclable in York County curbside bins or recycling drop-offs.  To verify what plastic items are recyclable in your municipality, contact them directly.   
  • York County recycling business CRDC accepts all types of plastic, including film and foam, at their drop-off locations.  For more information, click here. 
  • Plastic bags and film can be recycled at many retail stores in York County.

TRASH:  Unrecyclable plastic items can be disposed in the regular trash.
