Roofing Material

Roofing material used in building construction may be able to be donated. An internet search such as “donate roofing material York PA” will show businesses that accept this material for donation. 

Metal roofing material can often be recycled. An internet search such as “recycle metal roofing York PA” will show businesses that accept this material for recycling. 

Asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles and tar paper can also be disposed of in your trash or at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC) but are limited to a quantity of one pick-up truck or small trailer load. Rolled rubber roofing material disposed of in your trash or at the YCRRC is limited to no more than six feet in length and must be able to be carried by one person. Roofing material that exceeds the quantity or size limits listed above, metal sheet roofing and asbestos, clay, concrete and slate roofing materials must be disposed of at Modern Landfill (717-246-2686).
