Salt

REUSE: Ice melt, pool, and water softening salt in good usable condition may be able to be donated or resold.  An internet search such as “donate salt York PA” will show businesses that accept this material for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets.  Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms.

TRASH:  Whether for food, ice melt, pool, water softening use, or any other purpose, salt can be disposed in the regular trash or at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC).  For information regarding the YCRRC’s hours and disposal rates, click here.
