YCSWA Sponsors Recycling Assembly Programs in Eight York County Elementary Schools

To promote recycling and celebrate America Recycles Day (November 15), the York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA) is sponsoring an environmental education magic show in eight York County Elementary Schools. The recycling-themed magic show program, titled “The Three R’s Circus,” is presented by The Illusion Makers.

Through simple magic acts and engaging group participation, students will learn the importance of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling and see how the simplest actions they take make a big difference keeping our communities and planet clean! “The Three R’s Circus” educates students about the impacts of litter, how it affects our water systems, and talks about reusing and recycling everyday items. But the biggest message the “Three R’s Circus” stresses is reducing our trash.

The Illusion Makers will present the assembly programs November 6 through November 21. Performances run approximately 25 minutes and feature audience participation. The following schools responded to the Authority’s program offer and will receive “The Three R’s Circus” performances at no charge: Hanover Street Elementary, Washington Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary, Dover Elementary, Weigelstown Elementary, Wellsville Elementary, York Learning Center, and Locust Grove Elementary.

For more than 40 years, David James, known nationwide as The Illusion Maker, has been inspiring audiences with his unique blend of games, quizzes, and magical illusions—all with a positive message. From community centers and churches to schools across the country, James has combined entertainment and education to make learning unforgettable.

In recent years, James has focused his travels on Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia, where he now brings his environmental education program to elementary schools. His engaging show encourages students to care for the planet through fun, interactive learning.

“The younger generations will inherit the planet from us,” says James. “They can learn healthy habits now that will last them a lifetime.”

Through a lively mix of quiz questions and captivating illusions, The Illusion Maker teaches students the importance of the three environmental R’s—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—as well as the value of keeping their community’s litter-free. His message empowers children to take what they learn back home, inspiring their families to join in creating a cleaner, healthier world.

Programs are available live and in-person or can be presented virtually via livestream, allowing schools everywhere to enjoy the experience.
