Phones
REUSE: Phones in good working condition can be donated or resold. An internet search such as “donate phone York PA” will show organizations that accept these items for donation, or click here to view a list of York County donation/reuse outlets. Reusable items can also be resold at garage sales, consignment stores and on internet sale platforms. Cellular or “cell” phones and smartphones can also usually be returned or traded during the purchase of a new phone.

Cell phones and non-rotary phones are also accepted at the York County Solid Waste Authority’s free Residential Electronics Recycling Program. Click here for more information.
TRASH: Phones can also be disposed in the regular trash, but only after removing and safely disposing of any rechargeable batteries. For information on battery disposal, click here.
