Electronics

Electronics in good working order can often be donated.  An internet search such as “donate (computer, stereo, etc.) York PA” will show organizations that accept these items for donation.

In Pennsylvania certain electronics are restricted by law from being disposed of in the trash due to the toxic metals they contain.  Computers, computer peripherals (printers, keyboards, etc.), monitors and televisions must be recycled through government approved programs to prevent environmental pollution.  The York County Solid Waste Authority accepts these “covered devices” as well as many other different kinds of electronics at our free Residential Electronics Recycling Program.  Click here for more information.

Some electronics may also be recyclable at metal salvage businesses.  An internet search such as “recycle (computer, stereo, etc.) York PA will show businesses that accept these items for recycling.

Electronics that are not computers, computer peripherals, monitors or TVs can also be disposed in the regular trash.
