To promote recycling and celebrate America Recycles Day, YCSWA sponsored an environmental education magic show in eight York County Elementary Schools. The recycling-themed magic show program, titled “The Three R’s Circus,” is presented by The Illusion Makers.
Through simple magic acts and engaging group participation, students learned the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling and they saw how the simplest actions they take make a big difference keeping our communities and planet clean!
YCSWA will continue to sponsor assemblies and programs like this one. Look on the YCSWA website for information about ongoing activities and resources.

Congratulations to Carter Belker for being YCSWA’s first ever Youth Ambassador. Carter has an unrelenting fascination with waste-to energy. She visited the York County Resource Recovery Center during a field trip last school year and was amazed to find out that YCSWA takes York County’s municipal trash and uses it as fuel to create electricity. We honored Carter with a special gift and a plaque at our November Board Meeting.
If you would like to nominate a student who is wild about keeping our environment clean, loves to recycle, is enthralled with composting, speaks the language of reduce, reuse, recycle, or, like Carter, spreads the word about their fascination with how YCSWA manages trash for York County, please email info@ycswa.com.
